Mailkit Standard
Mailkit provides Windows 95/98/2000/NT processing for Royal Mail’s Mailsort and Presstream services. It includes the following features:
* Consists of four modules, Coding, Sorting, Reports and Labels which can be run individually
or automatically in sequence. All the panels are similar and easy-to-use..
* All the modules have passed Royal Mail’s suppliers’ tests
* Mailkit accepts standard CSV or fixed length record files which can be exported from virtually
any database
* Files from different sources can be merged at the Coding stage
* Large address files can be handled easily
* Posting Reports can be printed, or saved as XML files, viewed in Internet Explorer and
emailed.
CODING
Coding checks each address in turn for a postcode. If there is a valid postcode, it inserts the Mailsort selection code. Then international addresses, those having a country matching an entry in the Royal Mail ISORTA file, are put into separate European and Rest of the World files.
For any remaining entries the postal town is matched against a list of valid UK postal towns. All addresses that cannot be matched by postcode, country or postal town are put in a NVM (not valid for Mailsort) file for editing and separate label printing.
SORTING
Sorting analyses the addresses and allocates each one to a direct or residue selection. It then sorts the addresses in one of three possible ways: all direct selections followed by all residue selections, each group of direct selections followed by its residue selection, and direct and residue selections sorted in postal zone order (this is required for Mailsort 1 and Presstream 1).
In the Sorting module you select the Mailsort service you require, the format (letters, large lettersĀ or packets and the minimum selection size for packets (5 or 10).
International addresses are sorted by country within postal zone.
REPORTS
This module produces and prints the Line Listing and the Posting Reports. The Line Listing Report details the number of bags used in a mailing and their contents. The Posting Report summarises the sortation statistics together with the cost of the mailing and the Mailsort discounts. Temporary bag labels can be printed before the first address of each bag, or the bag label information can be sent to a separate file which can be input to a Final Bag Label printer. In this case a row of asterisks will be printed on the first label of each bag to identify it.
LABELS
This module lists most common sizes of laser, inkjet and continuous labels, and you can add the details of any special labels to the table shown above. You can also print envelopes or cover sheets for magazines sealed in polybags.
Selection codes can be printed on the right or left hand end of the first line of the label, and bag markers can be printed before the first label or after the last label for each bag.
OPTIONAL EXTRAS
* International Option – the sorting program can inject bag markers between each country and
print a mailing analysis showing the number of items for each country in postal zone order.
* Our program CodePlus has all the features of Coding plus the ability to select addresses to
include in a mailing. It can also add fixed messages to labels.
* CodePlus has an optional feature for Deduplicating files. This can help to save the cost of a
mailing.
